Chelmsford Competition – May 2011
On Saturday 7th May 2011, Laurence Sandum hosted a joint WUMA and UK MASDA sanctioned competition at The Marconi Club in Chelmsford, Essex.
Clubs that attended the event included Tony Child‘s Total Martial Arts, Paul Finn’s Karasac Kali and Laurence Sandum’s Black Belt Martial Arts Academy, as well as a number of other clubs from around the country.
The bill started with some Filipino stick fighting competition, which was brand new to some of the crowd in attendance. After the stick fights came a selection of Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Grappling and Strike and Grapple (a variation on standard MMA rules) bouts.
Every single competitor put in a great amount of effort leading up to and on the day, which made for a brilliant atmosphere and some excellent battles.
On behalf of myself and the fighters from Laurence Sandum’s Black Belt Martial Arts Academy, I would like to thank Peter Squire, the club’s resident competition coordinator, for all his hard work preparing the fighters.
Finally I would like to thank Laurence Sandum, for putting on an event of such high quality, which allowed local fighters to fight in their home town.
