Bring a Family Member Session – January 2017

Starting 2017 strong, Peter Squire and I ran our first ever ‘Bring a Family Member Session, under the banner of Team Pedro Sauer UK.

The session, held at our regular class location in South Woodham Ferrers, was open to Team Pedro Sauer UK members, as well as their family members; a great opportunity for the guys to show off why the love Gracie Jiu Jitsu so much!

With the idea of making the session as accessible as possible for everyone in attendance, and to demonstrate how effective Gracie Jiu Jitsu can be in ‘regular clothes’, we opted to make the session ‘no-gi’.

The format of the session was to start from a easily recognisable position; a ‘bad guy’ mouthing off at you, and edging forward to hit you. The remainder of the class worked forward from this setup; establishing the clinch, executing a takedown, controlling the position, before subduing ‘the guy’ with an Americana arm lock.

With the wide array of people in attendance, differing in gender, age, physical condition, and prior experience, it really did show how Gracie Jiu Jitsu is for everyone!
