Guro Ralph Jones JKD Seminar – June 2012
Saturday 9th June 2012 saw the return of Guro Ralph Jones to Laurence Sandum’s Black Belt Martial Arts Academy in Chelmsford, Essex to give a Jun Fan Gung Fu / JKD seminar.
During his visit Guro Ralph, one of the highest ranked instructors under Guro Dan Inosanto in Europe, turned his attention to the concept from fencing that the weapon moves first.
Seminar attendees spent time working through drills to develop the coordination to punch first with the hand and then bring the shoulder and feet in to play afterwards.
Guro Ralph took the time to explain that this should not replace the conventional method all the time, but instead compliment it by being able to move and hit with high apparent speed.
Many thanks to Laurence Sandum for organising the afternoon and continuing to bring in such high level martial artists like Guro Ralph to Chelmsford, reinforcing our position as the premier martial arts academy in the area.
Finally I would like to congratulate Graham Young and David Mills, from the academy, in gaining their UK MASDA 1st Degree Black Belt in Jun Fan Gung Fu, after a full day of assessment that this seminar was only a part of.
